Event Planning

The Scout Night wizard builds a complete event plan in 5–10 minutes, with OAS requirements pre-loaded so there's nothing to look up on the night.

• Set date, time, location, section, and indoor/outdoor flag
• Choose Challenge Area: Community, Creative, Outdoor, or Personal Growth
• Select SPICES domains (Social, Physical, Intellectual, Character, Emotional, Spiritual) the night addresses
• Select OAS streams and stages to target — requirements load automatically
• Pre-assign PAL roles (Participate, Assist, Lead) per Scout

Active Night

The Active Night view is designed for use on a phone while supervising a group of young people. Large tap targets, fast actions, no unnecessary steps.

• Single-tap attendance marking per Scout — present or absent
• Adjust PAL roles in real time as the night unfolds
• Record late arrivals and early departures with timestamps
• Add Scouts to the event on the fly (walk-ins, unexpected attendees)

OAS Tracking and Awarding

Outdoor Adventure Skills tracking covers all 9 streams across all 9 stages. Progress persists across a Scout's entire Scouting lifecycle regardless of section.

• 9 streams: Bushcraft, Bushwalking, Camping (Core) and Alpine, Aquatic, Boating, Cycling, Paddling, Vertical (Specialist)
• Granular requirement checkboxes per stage per stream
• Single "Complete & Award" action writes the full OAS payload to every present Scout
• Cross-stream requirement mapping — requirements that count toward multiple streams are handled automatically
• Award ratification log — every award has a full audit trail
• Optional Unit Council review queue for Groups that use youth-led council approval

Milestones and Special Interest Areas

Beyond OAS, Tussock tracks the full Scouts Australia achievement framework.

• Milestone credits derived automatically from PAL role on the night (Participate / Assist / Lead)

Parent Portal and Consent

Tussock provides consent workflows for leaders to collect and track parent permission without chasing paper forms.

• Standing consent — parent's general permission for their Scout to attend Group events

• Email-based consent flow — no parent app download required

Medical Records

Medical information with appropriate access controls for event use.

• Tiered access: Tier 1 (basic), Tier 2 (operational), Tier 3 (full medical)
• Emergency unlock for Tier 3 access during an incident — full audit trail
• Per-event attestation — leaders confirm they have reviewed relevant medical info before each night

Terrain Sync

Tussock is a companion to Terrain, Scouts Australia's official platform. All official records remain in Terrain.
